[Memory] Mysterious Mystery
MEMORY #??: A man working in his field/garden encounters the girl he likes. She is in distress.
WHAT IT WAS: Thread
When you first saw her, you thought she was laughing. Running in from the fruit fields, the fair lady you'd fancied.. her face was twisted up. It wasn't until you saw that, that you dropped your pike and ran to her, realizing the sound wasn't mirth but somewhere between a hiccup, sob and a wretched start of a scream.
She flings herself on you, shoulders trembling. She'd hysterical and you can't make out a word.
"MILLI! Milli calm down, what's wrong!"
"S'just bones! The old man, all that's left are bones." You grip her shoulders, fear making you break into a cold sweat despite the heat.
"Milli... this is important... the soil, was it movin'? Were there holes?"
A fresh bout of tears wells up and she seems on the brink of hysteria again. She shudders, collapsing in your hold. Her voice is barely a whisper. "S'in m'ankle. One got in..."
WHAT HE LEARNED:
- fancied a girl named Milli
- oh God is she going to die?!
- Terapedes are seriously dangerous
- small ones (hand's lenth and an inch wide) will burrow into a person if you're not quick enough to get away from an attack
- they, uh, lay eggs...
- recognizing the signs of terapedes in the area: holes and moving soil
tangentially knows:
- Delphinus are seafaring people
- they grow fruits
WHAT IT DID:
:|a As much as the memory felt like his own, Link rejected it pretty quickly because... he... loves Allen. Lol. Well, not to say he couldn't have loved someone else in his own memories too, but that quick "no, wait" of being positive he loves Allen made it easier to spot the incongruities between the environment in this memory and the ones about the Vatican and the Black Order. He also already actively reacts differently to his own memories than how he feels in them, so he's fairly used to looking at himself from an outside perspective as well.
Not to say he isn't a little torn up about Milli :|a. He's definitely going to have some stress-nightmares about terapedes eating people he likes and might have to wake up a lot to check there aren't any HOLES on his own legs or something equally horrifying.
